Fresh off October’s Red Ribbon Week campaign, a member of Connecticut’s Board of Education has been charged with supplying teenagers with drugs and alcohol in her basement.
According to NBC News, Alison Romkey, who serves on the Bolton Board of Education, was charged with nine counts of allowing a minor to possess alcohol and failing to halt possession. When police entered Romkey’s residence, they discovered: two large bottles of Smirnoff vodka, three smaller bottles of vodka, several beers, and eight bottles of mixed drinks; additionally, authorities retrieved fourteen vaping devices, 39.5 grams of marijuana, and two pieces of glass paraphernalia with residue on them.
Police were alerted to the activity at Romkey’s home after pulling over a speeding car filled with high school students, who shared with officers where they received the drugs and alcohol they were in possession of.
Romkey is scheduled to return to court on December 4 after being released on a $2,500 bond.
