While away from the gridiron, Richard Sherman, the cornerback of the San Francisco 49ers, intercepted the debt of a middle school in Santa Clara, California.
The principal of Cabrillo Middle, Stan Garber, was met by Sherman while working as a docent in the 49ers museum, as stated in a letter posted by Garber on the school’s site (link here).
Sherman, the four-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion, handed off a check to Garber in the amount of $7,491.27. In accordance with Sherman’s Foundation, Blanket Coverage, the money will be used to cover the school’s cafeteria debt.
Mirroring Sherman’s championship caliber defense, Blanket Coverage, which was founded in 2013, aims to, according to its Facebook page (link here), “help as many kids as possible have adequate School supplies and clothes.”
